Alerting the Team
Once loss of consciousness has been established alert the Emergency Medical System (EMS) by phone
Exceptions to this rule : near drowning, drug  or medication overdose, and respiratory arrest situations for which
One minute of CPR should be performed befor alerting : especially in an infant or child. Priorityis to begin CPR

Nursing intervention
Start CPR
connect to ECG Monitor
If fibrillation (ventricular) Defibrillation as soon as the defibrillator is ready
If defibrillation is not done within 10 mts. the chance of survival is 0.

The procedure
Heel of  one hand and other hand on top of it
on chest - lower half of sternum
Elbows kept straight
Body weight used for compression
Patient's chest should be bare
Cardiac board underneath the patient
Four quick compressions follwed by one ambu's, 12 breaths/mt, Chin lift bag and mask technique is used initially
Respiration through endotracheal tube if possible
Carotid or femoral pulse should become palpable
